Biography

Howdy, my name is Sophie Mullens. I am a current student at Texas A&M University pursuing an MBA and a Masters of Public Health. While at Texas A&M, I gained valuable leadership experience by serving on the board of Texas A&M Triathlon, managing a $60,000 budget and over 400 athletes. I also currently serve on the collegiate committee of USA Triathlon as the South Midwest Commissioner. In addition, I work as a research assistant, most notably working on a national vaccine trial and getting published for my work with rural health. Most recently, I worked as a project manager for a pro bono consulting company, strategically guiding hospitals and educational-based companies to improve their practice. These experiences have prepared me well to fulfill a position as a project manager at HCA Healthcare. For the past six years, I have worked as a pharmacy technician and have consistently seen patients struggle to afford their medications, leaving them without lifesaving medicines. These experiences have inspired my long-term goal of starting a nonprofit to improve access to affordable medications.
